Position Summary:
The Accounting Manager works closely with partners, executive leadership, supervisors, staff, and more to facilitate completing all accounting engagements. Reporting to the Director of Finance & Controller, the Accounting Manager - General Services position includes the oversight of the accounting department and accounting team members. As the Accounting Manager, you would address many accounting activities, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, and the support of budget and forecast activities. Your position will be solely responsible for the financial aspects of the APS Membership, Meetings, Development, including developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This role also supports the annual budgeting process, oversees and leads the preparation process for tax and other compliance reporting. Our Accounting Manager will work out of our College Park, Maryland office and will work in a hybrid schedule to work both on-site weekly and remote as needed.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification: CPA or CMA Certification desirable.
Experience: 5-7 years of progressive mid-sized non for profit accounting experience with management responsibilities required.

The APS has a “remote first” concept that promotes equal treatment and equal access, independent of physical work location, with a majority of staff working primarily from remote work locations. This position will require a periodic weekly presence in the College Park office.
