Position Summary:
We are looking for a compelling and self-motivated candidate to join our growing communications team, as we continue to expand our capabilities and leverage the latest marketing technologies. You will have the opportunity to support an organization and community dedicated to advancing the knowledge of physics.  In this role, you will support the Society's strategic plan by developing marketing objectives/plans and executing integrated marketing campaigns for areas that include: membership, programs, meetings, and government affairs. 


Primary Responsibilities:
  • Creating and executing integrated marketing campaigns aimed at various audience segments (e.g. by career stage, membership status, geography) across a variety of channels
  • Meeting marketing objectives by executing marketing plans to drive membership counts, applications, participation and awareness
  • Using audience insights, behaviors, personas, keyword searches, analytics, competitive information, and content performance to improve marketing collateral
  • Overseeing the design and production of print and digital marketing materials while ensuring consistency of look, tone, brand and adherence to style guides
  • Developing compelling messaging by adapting style, tone and word choice to various channels and audience segments
  • Monitoring, measuring and reporting on the performance of marketing campaigns to gain insight, access goals, and identify trends that lead to actionable ideas
  • Working with the web strategy group to enhance the digital experience and convert site traffic to leads through call-to-action, landing pages, and compelling content
  • Working with email marketing managers to develop lead scoring and design marketing automation campaigns
  • Ensuring consistent messaging and talking points across the Society
  • Leveraging integrated marketing and messaging opportunities across other areas of the Society
  • Managing two direct reports - Marketing Specialists


Is This You:
  • BA/BS degree in communications/marketing preferred or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of marketing experience with a minimum of 3 years in scholarly societies or associations preferred 
  • Proficiency in marketing automation, social media, exhibits, advertising, websites, search advertising
  • Must be comfortable working with and drawing meaningful conclusions from quantitative data
  • Understanding of Pardot or similar marketing automation systems (Eloqua, Marketo, etc.)
  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Strong sense of design principles
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Proficiency with Google Docs and other online shared document products
